Beth Winfield

CALL OF THE WEST

Beth Winfield has made several painting journeys into the American Southwest. Most recently, Beth traveled to the “Valley of the Gods” in southern Utah. It’s a beautiful area filled with monoliths and rock formations. It posed a challenge with storms rolling in bringing rain and wind gusts up to 60 mph, but Beth spent days capturing the overpowering rocks and fleeting light, painting out of the back of her car. She then traveled into the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico and surrounding areas finding additional interesting subjects. Driving into this vast Western landscape is Beth’s favorite things.

The recent events that changed all of our lives during the pandemic had artists staying in or close to home for many months. Fortunately for artists living in the Bay Area, it was easy to remain inspired by the beauty surrounding us.

Benicia offers so many painting sites from street scenes to  locations near the water and along the strait.
