Benicia Plein Air Gallery
Benicia Plein Air Gallery
Welcome!
Thirteen local Artists show their outdoor paintings of Bay Area scenes centering on Benicia and Carquinez Straits and expanding throughout Northern California. When you visit the gallery, you will recognize many beautiful places that you have seen. Check out the “Special Events” page to see what’s happening now.
Benicia Plein Air Gallery’s artworks capture the local scenes treasured by residents, and give insight to visitors of the local beauty that surrounds them. The artists turn industrial chaos into abstract expressions, full of color and shapes. Yet the waterways are what touches their hearts and are found in most paintings.
The gallery is a by-product of the generosity of local plein air legends, Jerrold Turner and Nikki Basch-Davis. Without their mentoring encouragement, the artists would not have come together to present such a wonderful diversity of paintings. We acknowledge and thank them.

“Plein Air” means “open air” and signifies outdoor paintings that capture nature’s light. The invention of paints in tubes enabled impressionist artists, such as Van Gogh and Monet, to paint outdoors.
