Craig Britton

 
 

Craig Britton was born in Chicago, long ago, and started painting seventeen years after that. He has ben working and painting ever since. Art is his real passion, and painting is an ongoing dialogue.

While in Philadelphia, Craig was a staff muralist and commissioned muralist for the Mural Arts Commission. One of his murals, “Nicetown”, was used as the backdrop for photo-ops for presidents Clinton, Bush, Carter and Reagan during the Presidential Summit, in Philadelphia,PA, 1997.


In 1999, Craig received a ‘Percent for Art’ commission from S.E.P.T.A., (South Eastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority- Philadelphia’s mass transit system), for his project, “Seasons of Juniata”, which is in per-

manent installation at the Erie-Torresdale elevated train station, Philadelphia, PA.


Other commissions, include ARC International Corp, NY, NY; Kesher Israel Synagogue, Philadelphia; Bethesda Hospital Cincinnati, SORTA- ( Southwestern Ohio Regional Transit Authority), and the City of Cincinnati, Ohio.


Craig has taught Life Drawing and painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; and has been an Artist in Residence at Bensalem Preperatory School, Bensalem, PA, and Fair Oaks Elementary School, in Redwood City, CA.


Along with Plein Aire and studio paintings, Craig has extensive experience in Murals, Decorative painting and Faux Finish work, both free lance and working with interior designers.


His work resides in many corporate, public and private collections in the U.S, France, and the Caribbean.


Craig is a member of SF Moma, Arts Benicia, and the Benicia Plein Aire Painters- Da Group; he lives in Crockett, CA.
